“INITIATIVE OF TOGETHERNESS”

Mohan Co-operative Industrial Estate is a prime complex of Offices, showrooms and industry spread in a 7.2 k.m. stretch on Main Mathura Road, New Delhi. Mohan Estate was established in Delhi, India in 1967. It was one of the first industrial estates in the country and played a key role in the development of the Indian industry. The estate was developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and was designed to provide an integrated infrastructure for industrial development. The location of the Estate makes it unique owing to its proximity to NOIDA, Gurugram, Faridabad and also the heart of the city – Connaught Place. Today it is a hub for financial, information technology and automobile and other non pollutant industries, which include the likes of WIPRO, SONY, PANACEA BIOTECH, HERO FINANCE, AMAZON to count a few. In the auto sector Mohan Estate has the presence of Jaguar, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Jeep, TATA Motors, Hyundai, MARUTI NEXA, MAHINDRA and more. Mohan Estate is well connected to the rest of the country through a network of roads, railways and airports. The estate employs over 20,000 people and contributes significantly to the economy of Delhi.

Current Problems

Since inception, even after 75 years of establishment of MCIE in 1967, Mohan Estate has not been provided with basic infrastructure and facilities. We don’t have drinking water, sewerage pipelines, not even roads and streetlights. MCIE is totally deprived of all needful basic amenities that to be used for the development of an area, even though the plot owners of the Estate have been paying all taxes, including property tax, regularly.

In order to address this issue and to secure our rights from the Govt. authorities to provide us our rightful basic facilities, we have formed MOHAN ESTATE WELFARE ASSOCIATION (MEWA). MEWA is a registered Association under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The purpose of forming MEWA is also to ensure the well-being of its members, as well as to form a representative body to collectively interact with various Governmental bodies and Municipalities to assist them in implementing their programs and to bring our problems to their attention. MEWA will additionally be focussing on cleanliness in tune with initiatives such as Swachh Bharat being promoted by our Govt. We will also be ensuring security and removing illegal encroachments and collectively looking after all interest of this estate as well as that of members.

Framework

A strong Association is a need of the hour to ensure inclusive and collective initiatives for the improvement of Mohan Cooperative Industrial Estate and to provide support to any of our Members if, as and when they fall prey to harassment by any governmental departments/institutions or other civic bodies. Mohan Estate Welfare Association will provide that strength.

MEWA will operate in a democratic framework and garner strength by tapping the pool of our collective resources of ideas, connections and networks while being driven by a dedicated team.
